The Behringer-Crawford Museum (BCM) is dedicated to preserving Northern Kentucky’s rich culture and heritage while inspiring learners of all ages. Housed in a 19th-century home belonging to the Devou family, BCM was established in 1950 to honor Covington native William Behringer, an avid traveler. The museum’s original collection included memorabilia from Behringer’s travels and items collected by its first curator, Ellis Crawford, such as a black bear and a two-headed calf.
Over the years, BCM has expanded its focus to encompass regional cultural history, archaeology, industry, and the visual and performing arts. The museum features a diverse permanent collection and rotating exhibitions highlighting local artists, offering visitors a chance to discover unique artifacts and foster new interests.
For younger visitors, NaturePlay@BCM provides an engaging outdoor space where children can explore nature while learning about the region’s heritage. Set in the scenic Devou Park, which boasts stunning views of the Ohio River and the surrounding areas, BCM invites guests to connect with the present while celebrating the past and gaining knowledge for the future.
